All-On-4® Dental Implants in Geelong

If you have lost all or most of your teeth, you may consider having a full arch of either upper, lower or both sets of teeth placed on four dental implants.

Whilst implant-supported dentures and bridges do provide support, All-on-4® dental implant procedure is an innovative approach designed to provide comprehensive tooth replacement with fixed, non-removable dentures.

If you’re in the Geelong area and considering the All-on-4® procedure, it’s recommended to consult with a dentist or oral surgeon who specialises in this treatment. They can assess your oral health, discuss your goals, and determine if All-on-4® is the right solution for you.

Introducing multi-teeth implants. This high-tech solution relies on the natural structures of your jawbone and gums for support – and provides rewarding results. Do you wish to try it for yourself?

The Drawbacks Of Dentures And Bridges

If you’re missing multiple teeth, you may have a set of dentures or a traditional bridge to support your teeth.

Dentures can be inserted during the day to support your missing teeth and the gums which surround it. However, they must be taken out at night and cleaned regularly, or else further complications might develop, such as cavities, stomatitis and infection. Dentures also vary in their comfort and stability, and it is not uncommon for people to develop ulcers as a result.

A traditional bridge replaces a missing tooth by using support from its two neighbouring teeth. These two neighbours are reshaped to be able to support one crown each, while the missing tooth is replaced by an artificial tooth known as a pontic. The pontic is supported by an abutment and the two crowns on either side of it, creating a firm trio. While bridges are strong, the healthy bone and gum underneath it remains vulnerable to deterioration. If left unchecked, the deteriorated structures might allow the growth of bacteria, which is a risk to both the replaced tooth and its neighbours.

Your Options When You’re Missing Teeth

There are several ways you can treat missing teeth. You can obtain a set of dentures, which you can use during the day and take out at night. You can have these dentures implant-supported, meaning they click into place more securely. Or, you can opt for an implant-supported bridge, also known as multi-teeth implants, for localised surgery. However, these options do not cover everything. While dentures and implant-supported dentures provide support, you might find you want a more permanent solution, especially if you are missing all or most of your teeth. The same goes for implant-supported bridges: a great solution for local support, but less so for a full set of teeth.

How is All-On-4® Different From Other Treatments?

Imagine getting a brand-new set of teeth that are virtually indistinguishable from natural ones, all in less than a day. This transformation is possible through All-On-4® dental implants, where just four implants support a full set of teeth.

While dentures and implant-supported dentures provide support, you might find you want a more permanent solution – especially if you are missing all or most of your teeth. Similarly, implant-supported bridges may be a great solution for local support, but less so when you require a full set of teeth.

The Multi-Teeth Implant Procedure

The entire process may take between 3-12 months, depending on your unique medical conditions and the operation you require.

Comprehensive Assessment Of Your Teeth

Our dentists will complete a comprehensive medical and dental assessment. Photos, scans, and 3D X-rays are taken to assess your bone structure.

A Customised Approach

We implement digital smile design to tailor a specific, unique smile for you.

The Surgical Stage

After you are satisfied with your smile design, we begin to place your implants.

Receiving Your Temporary Teeth

Within 24-48 hours of your surgical procedure, we will place temporary teeth for you to wear for 3 months as your mouth and teeth heal. These will look and feel like natural teeth.

The end result? A stronger solution, which looks better, feels better, and is less prone to further tooth decay.

Learn More About All-On-4®

In an All-On-4® dental implant procedure, a patient’s set of upper and/or lower teeth are restored with only four implants. The all teeth on 4 dental implants surgeries performed at our Geelong clinic offer the necessary support for the placement of a permanent set of teeth.
The All-On-4® dental implants procedure usually requires the patient to be under general anaesthesia as it is a surgical procedure. However, when the anaesthesia wears off, the patient might experience discomfort such as swelling and minor aches for a few days. Special painkiller medications can be prescribed to patients to alleviate pain.
The All-On-4® treatment can be recommended for anyone that needs a permanent dental restoration for multiple sets of teeth. The candidate is required to have healthy gums and bone mass to hold the implants. These may include patients that have endured tremendous tooth loss or who want a permanent, long-lasting solution to removable dentures. For such patients, an All-On-4® treatment can help restore vital facial features, align jaw position and bite force, as well as enhance speech.
With good dental hygiene, maintenance, and care, standard All-On-4® restorations can last indefinitely. However, this is very much dependant on the maintenance of the implants and prosthetics.
Since the All-On-4® implants are tilted within the jaw, the requirement for bone grafting is minimised. The positioning on both the lower and upper jaws is adjusted to ensure maximum functionality and to prevent any dental concerns like cavities from forming. For this reason, it’s necessary for the dentist to analyse the bone structure to see if they are a fit for the procedure.
Initially, the dentist starts with an examination of the patient’s overall oral health to determine whether they are the right fit for the procedure. Once the patient qualifies, the dentist proceeds with the surgery. During a standard All-On-4® procedure, the dentist fixes a set of four implants and provisional teeth on top for a period of 3 months as the gum and bones heal. After the surgery, the mouth is left to recover while the implants integrate firmly with the jawbone. Following the recovery, the dentist creates the permanent teeth made of either zirconia, acrylic or ceramic. These are then fixed permanently over the frame resulting in a complete restoration of the patient’s teeth.
Patients can also opt for sleep dentistry as a part of their treatment to help manage their fear or anxiety. Undergoing a treatment under sleep dentistry means the sedation is supervised by a medical professional who can monitor their condition till the procedure is complete. This is to ensure the overall safety and comfort of the patient.
It’s not usually necessary to remove both upper and lower arches in an All-On-4® treatment if one of them are in good shape. However, if both arches are badly damaged, it’s advisable to get them both replaced in a single treatment. This helps reduce cost of the whole treatment.
The completion time for an All-On-4® treatment can vary on certain factors. Ideally, the patient can expect to get a full restoration of their implants within 24 hours with their temporary teeth. Within the said time period, the patient will have their All-On-4® teeth permanently fitted into the implants. The treatment duration might, however, increase if the patient requires any add-ons to be done.
Compared to regular implants where having a firm jawbone is necessary, All-On-4® implants can be placed strategically to manage a single dental arch. This means a dentist can find an ideal foundation in the jawbone to insert the All-On-4® implants.

6 Stars!!! Dr Pascale is the best dentist I have ever seen. I had all 4 wisdom teeth extracted with absolutely no discomfort even though I was only under local anaesthetic. Dr Pascale and amazing assistant Lucy made sure I was comfortable the whole way through. The reception team was also really great and even followed up a day later to see how I was feeling after the extraction. Can’t recommend Dentists and Doctors and Dr Pascale enough.

I had an exceptional experience at Dentists and Doctors last week with Dr Pascale. She was so reassuring, took such great care with my clean and checks whilst clearly outlining each process throughout the appointment. I felt so informed and appreciated the time she took to explain and show me what she had assessed. The clinic itself is spotless and modern with some really cool technology, the receptionist was also so lovely. All in all, I will certainly be making D&D my go-to dental clinic from now on!
